About Jason Yates the Owner
Jason Yates, youngest of 5 sons of John and Lena Yates, spent his whole life growing up around the family business with his parents and brothers. He has always been interested in go-carts, cars and motorcycles; basically anything with an engine on it! As a child, Jason would ride with his father to the station on a daily basis where he worked every summer and after school as he got older.
Between the service stations, auto parts stores and taxicabs his father owned, Jason was always busy. While he was in high school, he moved around to work in different locations, including the hardware store that was located on the corner of Commonwealth and Monroe Avenues. Having the entire family involved in the business exposed him to so many different things and it proved to be a fantastic childhood. As Jason contemplated college, he realized how much he enjoyed the family business and wanted to continue working there with his father.
By 1980, Jason returned to the present Braddock Road location where he has been for the past 36 years building the business with his wife, Loren who handles the accounting office. Their son, Jason, Jr., a graduate of the University of Virginia, is also working in the family business both behind the scenes and in the stores working with customers.
